Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort (pictured) has achieved a five-star hotel rating more than a month after launching its non-gaming facility, and a Wednesday announcement found it had been approved for a foreign-only casino license.

Management at the complex in Incheon previously explained to GGRA that these luxury hotel ratings are conditions for the resort to get permission from a foreigner-only casino.

GGRAsia on Tuesday approached property management for comment on when the casinos would open. The entire complex is facilitated by the U.S.-based Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority.

Inspire officials said on Feb. 10, "We aim to open the casinos before the Lunar New Year holiday." That was the evidence that casino licenses were actually issued before then. The approval of licenses has now been confirmed by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the government agency responsible for the casino sector in Korea.

"The time required to get a five-star hotel rating was within our expectations," added an Inspire spokesperson who asked not to be identified but is known to have direct knowledge of the situation. The spokesperson added that the process to obtain a casino license was "like a clockwork."

According to the Korea Tourism Association's website, the Korea Tourism Association, which is responsible for rating hotels, gave Inspire's hotel facilities five stars, valid until Jan. 2, 2027.

An official with the group previously told GGRAsia that it had been working to ensure that the overall process, including hotel ratings and casino licenses, could be expedited within 150 days.

The idea was to allow business promoters to notify both applications at the same time, rather than continuously, as hotel ratings typically take up to 90 days and casino permits take up to 60 days, the tourism association said.
